With the convenience of Internet banking comes questions about security of your information on the Internet. Alpine Bank is dedicated to ensuring your privacy and your security on the Internet. Here is what we do to make certain your information is secure while you do your banking at alpinebank.com.
Cryptographic Technology Cryptographic Technology allows information to be encrypted as it is transmitted across the Internet. Today, most browsers come with 40-bit encryption and can be enhanced with a 128-bit encrypted key. Why is this important? 128-bit encryption keys are approximately 309,485,009,821,345,068,724,781,056 times stronger than 40-bit encryption keys.
As an example of the 128-bit encryption strength it is estimated that to break 128-bit encryption it would take a hacker 10 septillion years harnessing the power of 1,000 CPUs, typing 1,000 characters per second, 24 hours a day.
How Alpine Bank uses Cryptographic Technology Alpine Online, Payment Express, & Cash Management use 128-bit encryption. As mentioned, many browsers need to be enhanced to support 128-bit encryption. To find out if your browser is 128-bit ready we have installed a browser check option on the Alpine Online Login page of Alpine Online. This test can be performed by clicking the blue "Test Browser" button at the top left corner of the sign-on page. If you're not sure if your browser will support 128-bit encryption, you can select this browser check option before you sign on. If your browser needs to be upgraded you will be given instructions on where to go to download an upgrade.
Alpine Online Login Your Alpine Online ID and Password are your keys to Alpine Online. It takes both identification keys to gain access. No one representing Alpine Bank will ask for your Password. You should never give your Password to anyone who asks for it in an e-mail or by phone or anyone else who you do not want to have access to your account.
Logout For your security, you should always logout at the end of each Alpine Online session. If you forget, Alpine Online will automatically log out when you close the browser window or after a period of inactivity.
Alpine Online Fraud Protection In the unlikely event that there is an unauthorized transaction on your deposit accounts (checking, savings or certificate of deposit), you're covered, for certain losses, under Federal Bank Regulations.
Our Privacy Policy Alpine Bank respects and honors your privacy by upholding all aspects of our privacy policy. The policy and our adherence to it are reviewed quarterly by an outside auditor. Read more about our Privacy Policy here.
Other Security Tools used by Alpine Bank Alpine Bank uses other tools to ensure high levels of Internet security. Firewalls and filtering routers are used to secure computers from outside Internet access and tested and proven operating systems are employed to protect the information from both internal and external threats.
For added security, you are required to determine your own unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) when your account is established. Locking a user out of the system for 24 hours following three unsuccessful login attempts deters PIN guessing. Internet Banking personnel review reports daily that show these failed login attempts and contact you directly if the activity appears to be suspicious.
These are just some of the full range of Internet security tools we use at alpinebank.com. These levels of security work together to make sure that the information transmitted between you and the bank are secure.
