The McBurneys met Bob Young in 1973 when they went to the new Carbondale bank to apply for a loan. Louis had left his psychiatric practice at the Mayo Clinic and, with his wife Melissa, hoped to start Marble Retreat, a refuge for clergy members facing personal crises. The retreat has been a success and since 1974, clergy from all faiths and from every state and several foreign countries have traveled to Marble with their spouses for two weeks of intensive counseling and therapy.
