Habitat for Humanity Currently Building a Montrose Triplex

Since 1991, Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans has worked with the community to build over fifty homes in Montrose, Ouray, Garfield, and San Miguel counties, and have even opened up a new ReStore in Glenwood Springs. Habitat for Humanity encourages the responsibility of home ownership by requiring its homeowners to invest up to 500 hours of sweat equity to help build their home and qualify for a nonprofit mortgage.

The newest home, a triplex currently being built in Montrose, is the latest example of the community coming together to help families achieve affordable home ownership. Alpine Bank Montrose donated $10,000 to cover the cost of every door for this new project. In January and April, sixteen Alpine Bank employees came together from all over the San Juan region to volunteer for the Habitat Build days.
