Pampering People & Having Fun with Fashion at Wax It Salon

Wax It is Grand Junction’s first exclusive waxing salon and was established in December 2007. Owner and entrepreneur Christine Kemmer opened her second location in Glenwood Springs in 2015, and in 2020 reinvented her brand by adding an in-salon retail store called Pepper & Pearl Boutique. She attributes her company’s success to convenience and top-quality services and product, a no-appointment-necessary scheduling system and loyal, repeat clientele.

“I saw an opportunity to bring a specific service to the valley that was otherwise more difficult to receive. The entire concept behind Wax It is to do one thing, and do it really well,” said Christine. “Waxing is an add-on, or second-thought-type service at most full-service salons, so we made that add-on service our entire focus. Convenience and expertise are what we strive for. Our professional staff is dedicated to customer comfort and relaxation with a total concentration on waxing needs.”

Christine is a proud Grand Junction native. After graduating college at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, she returned to her hometown to be near family and to start her business. She has two employees who have been working for Wax It since its start 14 years ago.

“The relationships that we have formed over the years with each other and with our clients are priceless,” said Christine. “The people of the Grand Valley are especially kind, vibrant and humble. A combination that’s hard to find anywhere else!”

Christine closed her salon for a short time in 2020 due to the pandemic. “During that time I wanted to make sure we had a way to connect with our community online. We expanded our in-store retail area and added an online shopping site. Pepper & Pearl Boutique was born,” said Christine. “Having fun with fashion is our mission. At Pepper and Pearl Boutique we want you to be able to feel confident in what you’re wearing, stand out in a crowd, and look fabulous!”

Staying busy extends to Christine’s home life as well, where she and husband Broc are raising two daughters and two sons, who range in age from 4 to 18.

She values her hometown, community banking relationship. “We’ve banked with Alpine for the entirety of our years in business and can’t imagine a better experience,” said Christine. “We’ve developed personal relationships with many of the bank’s employees and we’re so grateful for their customer-focused management.”
